WHAT IS BALAYAGE?

Balayage is a hand painting technique where lightener is painted onto the hair to create a soft, natural-looking sun-kissed highlight effect. It is often the desired technique if the client only wants to lighten their hair a few shades lighter. It is not a good technique for those who wants to lighten their hair drastically and it is especially not recommended for those who have dark hair and want to achieve the lightest blonde. (Ombre means a gradation in color, usually in shades from dark to light or even more interesting, from light to dark. There is no one way to get this look. In fact there is a myriad of ombre inspirations out there that can be hard to fathom. Different techniques can be used to achieve different ombre looks.)
